Dear Valued Colleague:
It is a great pleasure to share exciting news regarding organizational changes to the Forensic Genomics business at Illumina Inc. Effective today, Illumina’s forensic operations begin their evolution into Verogen, Inc., the first and only dedicated Forensic Genomics company. Powered by Illumina technology, Verogen focuses solely on the needs of forensic genomics laboratories and is completely dedicated to building upon the important forensic work conducted at Illumina over the last six years.
Verogen, headquartered in San Diego, CA, serves those who pursue the truth using genetic tools. Verogen’s sole focus is to advance science to help unlock the true potential of forensic genomics. In carrying out this work, your global and regional teams are largely unchanged from that of Illumina, and will continue to grow as capabilities expand in order to support you and the global forensic genomics community. Please see verogen.com for more information.
Ultimately, Verogen will assume all research, development, technical and commercial responsibilities for the Forensic Genomics business that currently reside with Illumina. Full Verogen operations are expected to commence in 2018. As functions migrate to the new company, Illumina continues to offer transactional support for the forensic business to ensure complete security of supply. New part numbers are not anticipated in 2017, and all of your current Illumina Forensic Genomics products, RUO products and equipment remain unchanged and fully supported.
Verogen will issue a further communication when independent operations are due to commence in your region. In the interim period, please continue to contact Illumina for all sales, support, or service requirements.
We believe that forming an independent company with dedicated resources is the best way to fully address the unique requirements of forensic laboratories. This responsibility is at the heart of Verogen’s mission. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your local Forensic Genomics Specialist (details at end of this letter) or me directly.
Thank you very much for your support of Illumina Forensic Genomics over the last six years. The teams at Verogen and Illumina look forward to continuing to work with all current and future partners as we endeavor to improve forensic research, public safety and global justice.
